Hi Andre, welcome on board! The schedules you wrote are correct ;) The A380 will land on Rwy 16R/34L and will take-off there again. While the majority of FCO traffic departs from Rwy 25, the A380 99% of times departs from 16R/34L because it has problems on some taxiways leading to Rwy 25 (he must enter Rwy 07 and do a backtrack, which is something odd here at FCO  )

Talking about spotting locations...keep in mind that at midday in July it will be very very hot and runways will have a big amount of heat haze. I think that IP terrace, while being one of the most interesting spotting places for 16R landings, is not convenient at 1330 because of the distance from the subject (your image will be ruined by the heat). I suggest you to catch the beast while it's still in the air, possibly in a place that is not too far from the subject, like on Final 16R. In case of 34L landing, the AGIP oil station suits perfectly. If you own a wide angle lens, try to take some shots underneath the beast, it will be very very exciting and no heat-disturbed. For what concerns the take-off, IP terrace is good for a 34L departure. If 16R will be in use (almost certainly), AGIP oil station will work for sure. In both cases, if it will not be too hot, Ponticello offers a spectacular lift-off shot.

viratadiprocedura, thank you very much!
It looks like that during the summer, IP terrace is not the best location... As the majority of the other places nominated are not near a commercial establishment, I have to ask: Are those places safe? I don't speak anything of italian, and here in Brazil, we have a lot of problems with violence against spotters, so we need to be very careful. I don't want to put my family in trouble.
Thanks again!
Andre.

PS.: Don't worry about the account, it's very simple to sign in the forum : Thumbup :

We don't have problems of violence against spotters, luckily. Moreover, in that period of the year, the streets surrounding the airport will be full of cars and people heading to the beach, so you don't have to worry about anything.

Will you have a car? I hope so, spotting places are very far from each others...

Thanks again!!!
The car subject is a problem. As I'm in a excursion (I'll go to FCO on the only day free) I'll have no rented car. Is it highly necessary to have one, or I can take a taxi or bus to get to the spotting points?
Andre.

Forget the bus. There aren't bus :booooh
Taxi? You can try. No experience about that. I think that a one day car rental is the best deal (like I do when I visit another airport)

If you won't rent a car. You can go by feet. I did it :D ! You can do it to take the 380 'course it always take off/land from 16R/34L. Fromthe terminal to the runway spotting point will take 30/40 minutes(34l), one hour and 30 minutes for the 16R.In the middle there is the spotting point "ponticiello". Reaching the spotting point (by feet) is a little bit dangerous becouse you have to walk in the street.
Obviously the best would be rent a car but if can't that is an alternative.

Thank you all for the info! Maybe the car is really the best option. But we have legs to walk, right? Hehehehe
Thanks again!

Mrcznz is right, but he did not consider that during summer Fiumicino gets terrifically hot. After 9 am temperatures rise above 35 C and I think that 1.30 hours under that killing sun is not a good deal

Definitely not a good deal!!! I'll rent a car. If it crashes, I walk! :risata:
